What is the difference between all the different types of CBD products?
If you have begun your journey exploring the benefits of using CBD, you will have come across numerous names of various types of CBD. This article intends to clarify the mystique behind the many names, and hopefully give you confidence that you are buying the type of CBD that will give you the best experience.
Full Spectrum Hemp Oil (FSHO):
Full spectrum CBD is an extract that contains all compounds found naturally occurring in the plant, including terpenes, essential oils, and other cannabinoids, including the legally allowed practically undetectable, non-psychoactive amounts of THC. The amount of THC is undetectable in the bottle and therefore in your body when consumed, however if you are concerned about being drug tested by your employer, you may want to consult your physician or employer first. Note- there are NO intoxicating effects from the THC at this percentage. Many users of full spectrum products have reported passing employment required drug testing with no problems whatsoever. I have tested myself after many weeks of use at dosages of 66 mg. of FSHO (Full Spectrum Hemp Oil) per day and the results were negative for THC presence in my system.
The full spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes, and essential oils extracted from the plant work together to magnify the therapeutic benefits of each individual cannabinoid. This is commonly referred to as the “entourage effect“. It was previously believed that CBD in its isolated form was more effective than Full Spectrum CBD; however, in 2005, this theory was debunked by a study from the Lautenberg Center for General Tumor Immunology in Jerusalem. In the study, researchers found that test subjects administered with full spectrum CBD were provided with higher levels of relief, compared to subjects administered with CBD isolate. In addition, the results showed that full spectrum CBD provided enhanced effects with higher dosages, while the effects of CBD isolate remained consistent with increased dosages.
Why is FSHO recommended? There is a synergy between all the components found in FSHO, including the minute amounts of THC that may be present. Remember, the trace amounts of THC in FSHO is not detectable in drug tests and does not cause any psychotropic effects (no intoxication or “high”). This is called the “entourage” effect and it is believed that each component actually enhances the effect of the overall product.
Broad Spectrum:
Broad spectrum CBD is a bit of a mix between Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate. Like Full Spectrum CBD, the other compounds found within the plant are preserved in the extract; however, like CBD Isolate, THC is completely removed. Furthermore, some of the other beneficial compounds are lost in the refinement proceed. Because Broad Spectrum CBD contains multiple cannabinoids, it still provides some of the entourage effect.
Isolate:

Isolate:
In scientific terms, an isolate is the purest form of a compound, which is produced by singularly extracting that compound from its environment and isolating it from all other compounds. With that being said, CBD isolate is CBD in its purest form, which is produced by removing all other compounds found in the plant including terpenes, flavonoids, plant parts, and other cannabinoids.
