CBD Extraction Methods

There are three basic extraction methods to create CBD oil and associated products. CO2 extraction. The supercritical (or subcritical) CO2 method uses carbon dioxide under high pressure and extremely low temperatures to isolate, preserve, and maintain the purity of the medicinal oil. This process requires expensive equipment and a steep operational learning curve. But, when done well, the end product is safe, potent, and free of chlorophyll (chlorophyll imparts an undesirable taste). Ethanol. High-grade grain alcohol can be used to create high-quality cannabis oil appropriate for vape pen cartridges and other products. But this extraction method destroys the plant waxes and some other phytochemicals, which may have health benefits that are favored by some product-makers. Olive oil. Olive oil can also be used to extract cannabis oil. Buyers Guide: Strength and Price

When first starting out on your CBD journey, it may be helpful to compare prices from the various vendors vying for your business. First and foremost, it is highly recommended to only buy CBD products from vendors who publicly share their certified 3rd party test results . This is to ensure that the product you are buying is what is being advised and to ensure that there are no toxic chemicals, pesticides, heavy metals, or other impurities or volatile substances. CBD tincture (drops) are most commonly sold in 15ml., 30ml., or 60ml. bottles. If the bottle says that it is 1000mg., that means that you are getting that much CBD in the entire bottle, no matter what the size. The only basis for discrimination between the different sizes is taste and ease of consumption. We prefer the 60ml. bottles because each dropper will taste better. This also means that the amount CBD in each dropper (dose) will be less. This is actually a good thing! This is good because you can easily control h...

How Much Should I Take?

How do you figure out how much CBD to use? What is the best dosage for me? These are some of the questions we hear on a regular basis. This article will shed some light on the subject. First and foremost, with CBD, less is best. In most cases, it is preferable to start with the lowest effective dosage and then slowly increase until you achieve the desired effects. But where do you start? First, calculate the mg. per dose by dividing the total mg. of the container by the container size (and use a gradient dropper or a dropper that holds 1 mg. per serving). In general, 1 to 6 mg. for every 10 pounds of body weight is a good starting point. The following chart may be helpful: Finally, keep the following in mind as you try CBD. The concentration of CBD The weight of the individual The individual’s body chemistry The severity of the cond...

Full Spectrum Hemp Oil (FSHO): Full spectrum CBD is an extract that contains all compounds found naturally occurring in the plant, including terpenes, essential oils, and other cannabinoids, including the legally allowed practically undetectable, non-psychoactive amounts of THC. The amount of THC is undetectable in the bottle and therefore in your body when consumed, however if you are concerned about being drug tested by your employer, you may want to consult your physician or employer first. Note- there are NO intoxicating effects from the THC at this percentage. Many users of full spectrum product...

The first questions that may come to mind are “what type of CBD should I take?” and “how do I take it?” There are many options which can be confusing to a first time user. There are tinctures (drops), to be taken sublingually (under the tongue) or orally, e-liquids for vaping or flower to smoke, edibles to eat and topicals to rub on your skin directly to the symptomatic area. One thing to keep in mind is bioavailability. Bioavailability is the bodies ability to absorb CBD. Different methods of taking it provide different levels and speed of effect. The numbers provided by various studies give ranges of effectiveness: Ingesting CBD has about 10% absorption rate. Smoking or vaping comes in at about 40%; sublingually is around 35%, and topically is about 70%. Your symptoms, how quickly you need to get the effects and how long yo...
